Jessica Simpson couldn?t be more thrilled to finally welcome her baby girl, Maxwell. But unfortunately for the normally bubbly Fashion Star mentor, in the weeks leading up to the birth, her unbridled joy was cut short by sharp pangs of panic. ?The thought of going into labor scared the bejeezus out of her,? a friend tells In Touch of the 31-year-old, who after months of speculation ? and In Touch?s exclusive report ? confirmed last fall that she was indeed expecting her first child with fiancé Eric Johnson, 32. ?She was so anxious, she was even breaking into cold sweats at night.?

So after weeks of worry and many sleepless nights, she ultimately chose to schedule a C section. ?She desperately wanted to experience the joy of a natural birth, but decided to go withwhat made the most sense for her,” the friend reveals.

Though she had carefully prepared for a typically unpredictable labor ? with a doctor on call 24/7, a live-in nurse at her Beverly Hills mansion and a $500,000 birthing suite reserved at LA?s elite Cedars-Sinai Medical Center ? Jessica was so fearful about the physical agony of a natural birth, she dropped all her meticulous plans in lieu of the major surgery. ?Jessica has no tolerance for pain,? the friend admits.? She even turned to hypnotherapy to calm her fears about it, but nothing was working.?

She may have agonized over her decision about how to welcome little Maxi into the world, but Jessica had a strong hand to hold through the storm. ?Eric is a calming force for Jessica,? the friend says of the couple. In fact, to celebrate the birth of baby Maxi, Eric surprised Jessica with a pricey piece of jewelry (paid for by Jessica!). ?Eric is so excited about the birth,? the friend tells In Touch.

Fashion expert weighs in on B’s post-baby style during a President Obama fundraiser.

</P><P>After multiple sightings of the star out and about in NYC since she first emerged at a <a href="/news/articles/1678726/beyonce-post-baby-appearance-blue-ivy.jhtml">Jay-Z's post-Carnegie Hall party</a>, the singer got all dolled up to hang out with first lady Michelle Obama in Manhattan on Monday night.

</P><P>The first lady of hip-hop and the <i>actual</i> first lady gathered at the Greenwich Hotel for a fundraising event for President Obama. Along with raising some dough, Beyonc&#233; also raised eyebrows, thanks to her slamming post-baby body. Decked out in a body-hugging navy dress by Victoria Beckham, B rocked sky-high heels, dazzling bling (including a diamond-encrusted eagle) and her hair pulled back in a simple ponytail. So what was Beyonc&#233; doing right in terms of styling herself as a new mom?

</P><P>"When you think of all the things women dislike about themselves, the majority don't like their upper arms and also have skirt-length issues, so she's addressed both of these. It's an interesting choice because it's snug, not tight," celebrity stylist Robert Verdi told MTV News about B's post-baby style. "There's a distinction. It's body-flattering, for sure.

</P><P>"It's also a very tasteful length: 2 inches above the knee. It's also a very conservative color, and it's very covered, but it still remains very sexy," he continued about the look. "You don't see all the bumps that women have post-pregnancy. … Again, the distinction is it's body-conscious without revealing every lump and bump. Tight ain't right, but this ain't tight. This is body-skimming."

</P><P>"She's really young, and … her equity is in her sex appeal, so you can't dismiss that," Verdi said. "She's not going to cover up. I think you've seen a similar evolution with Madonna, where fashion is sexy but is more intellectual. It's not as in-your-face. I think you're going to see the same thing with her. You evolve, but I don't think you stop being an attractive woman because you've had a child."

Leading man tells MTV News he expects ‘more fisticuffs’ with Colin Firth.

The last time anyone heard about the third film in the “Bridget Jones” franchise, the script was still being reworked to suit lead actors Renée Zellweger, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant. But fans have been getting antsy about the long-rumored sequel, with some wondering if the next chapter in bumbling Bridget’s story will ever be told.

When MTV News caught up with Grant in New York City on Friday (April 20), he explained that the British love triangle will return to the big screen … eventually. However, script problems continue to delay production.

“I’ve seen some scripts,” Grant said. “They haven’t quite hit the nail yet, but they will. They’re working on it.”

Since the script is still in the writing stages, now might be the time to request that Bridget’s two leading men, Daniel Cleaver and Mark Darcy, get into one of their infamous brawls, battling it out for Bridget’s heart.

“Yes, our public demands some more fisticuffs!” Grant exclaimed.

“Bridget Jones 3″ was first announced in August 2011. At one point, “Bridesmaids” director Paul Feig was attached to direct the film, but he exited last October. In November, Firth explained that “Full Monty” director Peter Cattaneo was in talks to take the helm.

‘Dancing with the Stars’ also wins big at 23rd annual show celebrating the LGBT community.

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml"_blank">Lady Gaga</a> was one of the big winners on Saturday night at the 23rd annual <a href="http://www.glaad.org/blog/dancing-stars-oprah-lady-gaga-among-glaad-media-award-recipients-new-york">GLAAD Media Awards</a>, taking home the prize for Outstanding Music Artist for her <a href="/news/articles/1665374/lady-gaga-born-this-way-billboard.jhtml"><I>Born This Way</I></a>&#8232; album. The show honors various branches of the media that represent the LGBT community.

</P><P>The show was hosted by "Glee" stars Cory Monteith and Naya Rivera and included guest spots from Dakota Fanning, "Jersey Shore" nice guy <a href="/news/articles/1672152/vinny-jersey-shore-bullying-disconnected.jhtml">Vinny Guadagnino,</a>&#8232; talk show host Wendy Williams, "Top Chef" star Padma Lakshmi and Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir.

The Russo award is presented annually to openly LGBT media professionals who have made a difference in promoting equality. In accepting the award, Meron said the pair, who were also behind the Oscar-winning movie musical "Chicago" and "Hairspray," have spent a long time trying to "fight, persuade and manipulate" Hollywood into including LGB characters in their work.

</P><P>Also on hand was openly gay 17-year-old high school student Katy Butler, who received a special award from Weinstein Company co-chairman Harvey Weinstein for her work in launching a Change.org campaign last month to argue for a <a href="http://act.mtv.com/posts/bully-needs-more-sigs-so-join-justin-bieber-demi-lovato-ellen-more-in-the-rating-fight/"_blank">PG-13 rating</a> for the upcoming documentary, "Bully."

</P><P>Other winners included: "Dancing With the Stars" (Outstanding Reality Program), for including the story line of transgender dancer Chaz Bono last season, the HBO film "Cinema Verite" (Outstanding TV Movie or Mini Series), a film focused on the life of a black lesbian teenager, "Pariah" (Outstanding Film — Limited Release), "Battle Against Bullying" from ABC World News with Diane Sawyer (Outstanding TV Journalism Segment) and the "Batwoman" comic book by J.H. Williams III and W. Haden Blackman (Outstanding Comic Book).

</P><P>More awards will be handed out on April 21 in Los Angeles and June 2 in San Francisco.</p>

‘You know, the whole album is just so different, there’s so many different people collaborating,’ Bieber says of Believe.

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> has added yet another A-list chart-topper to the <a href="http://www.capitalfm.com/artists/justin-bieber/news/taylor-swift/" target="_blank">collaboration</a> roster for his new album <i>Believe.</i> Speaking with Capital FM earlier this week, the Biebster announced that he's hit the studio with his very own <a href="/news/articles/1682780/taylor-swift-justin-bieber-punkd.jhtml">"Punk'd"</a> victim <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/swift__taylor/artist.jhtml">Taylor Swift</a>.

</P><P>"You know, the whole album is just so different, there's so many different people collaborating," the 18-year-old pop star said of the upcoming release. Aside from name-dropping a few hip-hop heavyweights like Kanye West and Drake, the singer revealed that he penned a tune with Swift, admitting the cut will have a country vibe.

</P><P>No word on whether Swift's vocals will appear on the tune in addition to her writing credit.

</P><P>Bieber's collabo with the singer/songwriter shouldn't be too much of a shock for fans. Late last year, the duo <a href="/news/articles/1669575/justin-bieber-taylor-swift-perform-onstage.jhtml">hit the stage</a> together for Swift's L.A. gig on her <i>Speak Now</i> trek. Most recently, Swift was the subject of one of Bieber's <a href="http://www.mtv.com/shows/punkd/series.jhtml">"Punk'd"</a> shenanigans when he convinced the singer she ruined a wedding.

In-demand producer/DJ also talks to MTV News about upcoming projects with No Doubt, Snoop Dogg, more.

<P><b>MADISON, Wisconsin</b> &#8212; It was just four years ago that <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/diplo/artist.jhtml">Diplo</a> put his production prowess on full display with M.I.A.'s mega-hit <a href="http://www.mtv.com/videos/mia/195024/paper-planes.jhtml">"Paper Planes."</a> Since then, the DJ/producer has become a go-to producer for major acts like Usher, whose latest single, R&B jam "Climax," features work from the Philadelphia native.
</P><P>
</P><P>On Tuesday, MTV News hit up the first stop on the campus-themed <a href="http://newsroom.mtv.com/2012/03/28/diplo-chiddy-bang-axe-one-night-only-tour">AXE One Night Only Tour</a> in Wisconsin, and we caught up with the headlining DJ to talk about his upcoming projects.

</P><P>"We got really luck on that one," he said of the track from Usher's upcoming album. "We just had great chemistry. I was super-nervous working with him the first two days. … The way we did it, it was just a super-open format. He was down to do whatever we were excited about.
</P><P>
</P><P>"I love Usher," Diplo gushed. "I'm an Usher fan. I love him for records like 'Confessions Pt. II' and 'Burn,' those are some of the first R&B records from my generation that are still lasting forever. And we did some uptempo stuff too. I don't know what'll make the album, but I think there are definitely three songs that'll make it."

</P><P>Diplo is currently involved with a number of projects and luckily he was willing to dish. After working last summer with <a href="/news/articles/1670849/no-doubt-album-release.jhtml">No Doubt on their upcoming record</a>, the producer revealed he had good news to share.
</P><P>
</P><P>"We just finished. I was actually in Jamaica last month and I went in and did some extra stuff on that record," he told us. "I'm super-excited. It's probably going to be a single for their album. They've been [tweeting] about the song, so they're excited about it. I think it's going to be a 'No Doubt featuring Major Lazer' record, because we were producers, and there's another artist on it, too, that we recorded in Jamaica.
</P><P>
</P><P>"But you'll have to wait," Diplo warned, "I don't know how far off that record is, but every song I've heard is a bona-fide hit. '
</P><P>
</P><P>The superstar DJ also recently took to his Facebook page and casually mentioned that he's already started production on 18 tracks for a record with <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/snoop_dogg/artist.jhtml">Snoop Dogg</a>.
</P><P>
</P><P>"Snoop Dogg is an icon, man; he's bigger than the music," Diplo said. "What we're doing is a reggae record. It's like Snoop Dogg and Major Lazer together. It's all reggae and he's singing and he's doing a f—ing awesome job and I never knew it, but he had his heart in every song. … We're going to get back into the production of it next month, and I'm really proud of that record. It's the first record I've ever executive-produced and his crew is amazing.
